i have made a center panel with 3 panels in it.... see attached
i would like to have it say new next to the new items as they are posted.
how can i make that happen?

You will need to add some date format renders and decide yourself on what date range is considered new, please find some panels that does this in the AddonDB, I am sure we have lots of examples there.
