Just a thought i was having: is it possible to change the names of my custom pages so they read i.e "www.........../viewpage.php?page_id=what-i-want-to-call-it"
rather than "viewpage.php?page_id=17".
If possible and if anybody could point me in the direction i would really appreciate it, thanks.

As far as I know, there's no mod for this. There are no "pages". Viewpage is just calling for custom_pages/page_id's.

If you just want to place a link to yoursite/mypage.php, you can always create a blank page called mypage.php or whatever you want and place a redirect in the header to the actual custom page.
