unable to instal v6

I am having real trouble with the set up menu and dont know what to do next.

it has come up with write permissions check passed which going by the manual is fine.

I then put in:
Database Hostname: localhost
Database Username: wspsta_print
Database Password:
Database Name: wspsta_print
Table Prefix:

please can anyone help before I rip all my hair out.

below is the error i am getting.

Unable to establish connection to MySQL
2002 : Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2)

Well it seems like there are problems with the database, are you on a host or is this on a local machine?

it is on a host

100webspace

i first tried putting in: wsplstats.100webspace.net as this is the host adrress i use with ftp but this did not help.

Best is to ask on your hosts support forum what the database host name is as this isn't PHPFusion related.

Searching for an answer I found out that they went through changes and you might wanna look at the old news. You should also take a look at this recent forum thread on their website and ask for help right there.

What you need is the correct settings to connect to your database and the rest will be taken care of PHPFusion Setup.

Just a question: why make a new install on v6 instead of v7?

Thanks very much for all your help thats supperb. Am still new to all this and still learning loads. Would never have found the answer on my own.
Is the first time I have tried a clean install. other time I just used the elefante instaler but it takes half the fun away.

ya i would suggest you do a ver7 install and learning with it =] its slightly different then ver6
