Okay so, since v7.1 is the next big thing right? My first actual question is why 7.1? It's just supposed to be a minor update? What is the point of taking so much time getting v7 out there, and then you spend even MORE time working on v7.1 which is just a minor update of the site?

As you all know php-fusion is way behind most coding standards, most systems have their own frameworks based on MCV.

PHPFusion does not even have a based module system that allows people to edit/delete modules like the forums and such. The forums, downloads, articles, weblinks, should all be modules that you can enable/disable/ etc.

PHPFusion is doing alright, they have custom BBCodes and profile information, but nothing too special. I'm just wanting to see what plans are in store of PHPFusion, such as building actual classes to control the view and functionality of the script.

Anyways, can anybody show me where to look to view what changes will be made for v7.1, and what future plans the staff has for the script?

Wow. You should become a politician, mate. (No offense).

I don't know where to get it but what I know is, PF will be allowing users to add more profile information on their own, not just limited by what we can see in edit profile section.

Welcome to the official development & support site of PHPFusion, a light-weight open-source content management system (CMS). PHPFusion is written in PHP and MySQL and includes a simple, comprehensive adminstration system. The most common features you would expect to see in many other CMS packages are included in PHPFusion. Feel free to post any questions or report any problems in our community forums. Please refer to the FAQ for common questions.

Wherefrom do you know how much time they have spend for the v7.01?
Digitanium took a very long break as you can read in his last news.
And some other developer retired.
All the people who have been working for PHPFusion have a job and do this only in their spare time.

The latest changes you can see in our SVN:

I haven't been here for quite a while, and I just came by accidentally. I have to agree with Skepsis - PHPFusion does not stand up to the minimum requirements for a decent, SEO-friendly, CMS. Sad, but true.

I used PHPFusion for quite a few years, and I modded it heavily - it even helped me to learn PHP since it is very simple - but after having tried other CMS's such as Joomla!, Drupal, Wordpress, Expression Engine e.g. I have to say that PHPFusion lacks behind in several aspects.

I am not saying that PHPFusion is a lousy CMS or anything, as it is not. It just does not live up to the expectations for a web2.0 website.

I would strongly advice you - and I hope that you are already planning - to go OOPHP with PHPFusion 7.5 or 8. Make a framework and this will boost the developers' workflow. Doing this does mean that the core might be a bit more complex but I would say it's worth it.

I am using Yii right now, and I just love it!

Now, you can ignore my post, flame me or w.e. you want. This is just an advice.

We've no objection to healthy debate or criticism of the project. As long as it's civil, speak your mind.
Nothing you've said has not been discussed among the crew. The other CMS's you mentioned are huge projects with many developers and compared to us, have enormous resources that we can't possibly match.
At the moment, all attention is on releasing a stable v7.01.00.
A team has been formed to begin planning v8 which will incorporate many of the things you've both mentioned. We just don't have the manpower to churn out new versions as quickly as people would wish.

Please understand I am not basing the PHPFusion development team in any way.

I'm not trying to insult anybody, I'm just wondering on what plans are in store for PHPFusion.

7.01.00, okay, that is fine, I am just used to, Major.Minor.Fix.

I was basically just trying to find out what future plans PHPFusion developers have in mind, and where I can find the new list of updates for the upcoming version. I really didn't mean to upset you guys, I was NOT in any way complaining about the new update taking time, I am also a developer, I understand how it goes, I was just a bit curious, and wanted you to feed my thirst for information.

Thank you for the link to the SVN, thank you for informing me about how your version numbering goes.

I still have one question left unanswered, please do not get offended. PHPFusion is indeed coded very well, but you must admit, it does not fit into today's standards, what plans are in store for PHPFusion? Do you plan on updating how the code is to today's standards? If not, that is totally fine, PHPFusion is not meant for people to modify, it's meant for people to use at their convenience to handle what they need to handle, so in reality the way it's coded does not matter, since people choose to modify the code at their own will.

Please don't get mad at me or anything, I'm not comparing PHPFusion to other CMS's like the guy's post before me, since PHPFusion is completely different from the other CMS's that he did mention.

No one is mad, we're not that sensitive B).

Starefossen is away on holiday and a couple of devs have either left or are temporarily unavailable. The ones left working are busily finalising v7.01.00
So, to be honest, there's nothing "written down" as yet. As I said above, a v8 team has been formed, but no serious work has yet begun. As soon as it is, be assured we'll keep everyone up to date as much as possible.
