After using PHPFusion for over a year I've finally decided to convert my entire site to WordPress. Although I commend the creator's work, Fusion still just looks like a CMS. WordPress is able to take the appearance of a full website. I'm sorry to step back from the community but it's been quite a while and I don't have the level of customization I need. Feel free to leave your comments below (I'm probably gonna get a lot of hate comments). And no, I'm not advertising for WordPress, I'm just sharing my opinion.

-Geistschatten, creator of ViperAmped.com

P.S. If you're looking for any of my themes just let me know via my site. I did have a few nice PHPFusion themes I designed.

I do hope you don't get "a lot of hate comments)". People come and go over the years. Some find PF exactly what they need, some don't. There is a new dev team being formed atm and there are great things to look forward to. We can't possibly compete with the likes of Wordpress who have a huge number of developers to call on. We're a tiny outfit compared to them, so comparisons are not really fair.

Still, good luck with your site and thanks for stopping by. :)

I'm considering to move from fusion too.It might be a light-weight CMS as Yxos said, but it has huge issues with database requests.Since my website has grown I've been moving from a hosting provider to another, tried quality VPS service, but the CPU was working 100%,even when my site wasn't visited as much. This CMS is good but not for large websites, that's all.Right now I'm considering to migrate on an self-made CMS,that'll do the trick.Anyway thanks for the developers who made this awesome CMS.

That doesn't make a whole lot of sense, if you had few visitors, what was causing the database queries? Database optimization is one area that has been looked at for the upcoming v7.01.00 release even though it's not a serious problem.
For the most part it's the bells and whistles that site owners add on, failing to update or using insecure code that can cause the increase.

It does exactly what it says on the tin!

PHPFusion and WordPress are both open-source, we should be on the same team here....PHPFusion just couldn't handle something like a portfolio and that's what I needed. So I moved on to another open-source project. But I still run two of my clients' sites on Fusion because it provides great access control over pages and content.

Here's my proof that I do appreciate what the Fusion developers have done:
http://viperamped.com/downloads

Every single theme and icon pack I've made for PHPFusion. Enjoy!
(They all include a screenshot in the zip last I checked.)

If anyone wants to add these to the theme database, feel free to.
Just be sure to leave the footer credit as that's the only TOU I require.

Actually.. I get where you're coming from.. sort of.

I was going to do a "Family" website, with very little on it. I wanted to be able to write blogs, thoughts and other stuff down, create a family tree, handle links to mail and calendar for family members and things like that.
I looked at Wordpress and figured, hey, that just might do the trick. After all, all I need are a couple of static pages in a navigation menu, and the blog functionality.

Alas there seems to be no way of actually just creating a damn menu. Not to mention that you either publish, or not publish everything. Why?!
I just want a few content pages and a proper menu.
As a result, I went back to fusion, and I'm working on the site now. :-)

You can change page/post visibility to members or public. And WordPress 3 will have a menu-creation system built in =)
