Before I put all the folders/files to the FTP root, shall I edit the forum/viewthread.php 1st?

It should not matter either way but I would enable the user Field first then mod the forum.

Thank you for this addon, it is great, I will be sure to keep it on my website but when I said forum ranks, I mean it like this,
You go into
Admin - User Admin - Forum Ranks
I want to add donating rank, VIP rank and more. I want it were I can give it to certain people without them having to get posts. Like if they donate, I will give them donating rank.
If you look here http://iforum.byethost17.com/forum/vi...hread_id=1 you can see my account "Admin" and my forum rank is, Founder http://iforum.byethost17.com/images/r...ounder.gif I want it to show like that for when I give out VIP ranks, donating ranks, forum spammer etc.

This is one of the ranks I want to use http://www.bvlist.com/images/ranks/ra...nk_vip.gif

Yup you can use Special Ranks for anything you like, it could also be used to list donation, contributors or whatever you like.
