Over the last few days my website has been overrun with spam users from gmail.com accounts. I have been banning their accounts and blocking their IP addresses as they have appeared but I had to boot out about 13 accounts this morning and it's a bit tedious.
What is the best way to deal with spam users? As I mentioned gmail.com seems to be the preferred email for these at the moment - I could block the entire domain and request that legitimate users from gmail.com contact site admin directly but that seems a bit drastic ... or does it:D ?!
Well, I have a simliar problem on another site. The thing is, I do not like having to use infusions or addons or anything like that. So I enforce admin approval on all accounts. Which can be a bit tedious, but works as spam prevention.
I think that as long as you inform the users about what goes, you are ok.
Any chance of possibly trying to keep all these spam thread in the same thread as it looks like us users are creating more spam than the spam script. lol
