Hello.
I am currently running a gaming clan and have recently got a good enough server to host a website on, it comes with most of the installation requirements for PHPFusion etc like Phpmyadmin and Mysql.

Now, when I upload and unzip everything to the main directory in the files database I rename the config file but however after reading the installation manual for the second time I come across the CHMOD 777/755.

Okay so I am new to this sort of stuff EG setting up websites through the database etc myself, but have worked with PHPNuke before (Free host) and some other websites...
I am not sure what else to do now other than this CHMOD 777, could somebody please explain to me how I could do this?

Thanks

CHMOD defines access rights to that file. EG config.php must have access right 644, meaning it should not be readable to anyone but the server.
On a Unix filesystem I think the access rights are defined in the same or similar way, not so much in a Windows filesystem.

The easiest way to make sure you set the access rights correclty is via an FTP client > File > Properties (menu options varies of course)

You can read more about it at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chmod

I am having some kind of a problem with the installation. I have done the CHMOD 777 to all the files:

administration/db_backups/
downloads/
downloads/images/
downloads/submissions/
downloads/submissions/images/
forum/attachments/
ftp_upload/
images/
images/imagelist.js
images/articles/
images/avatars/
images/news/
images/news/thumbs/
images/news_cats/
images/photoalbum/
images/photoalbum/submissions/
config.php

However the setup does not start automatically and when I do it manually it still doesn't work, I do not know what could be causing this but I keep getting 403/404 error messages.
What could be causing this?

// EDIT

After some re-reading of the installation manual and reading some similar topics I have finally got it working.

Can you post screenshots of those messages?

Please more details on how you are setting up the site; your own server, what web host, link to site, Linux or Windows... etc
