I had actually made one in the past in regards to when a forum thread was created, it would post to the app's wall.

Other than that, you can also post a status update from the user automatically when a user registers using my Facebook Connect infusion (if you know how to code it).

I know this is an old thread, but just in case this is of any interest -- I made a script that makes an rss feed of my site's news items, then another script that runs on cron checks for new items and sends them to facebook via "email upload." (The content sent has to go into the subject line of the email.)

Another option is to use IFTTT.com to send facebook updates from rss.
