PHP Fusion for commenting system?

I hope this is the right forum to post this.
I'd like to put a commenting system on my website. I have Disqus at the moment but considering some of the changes they're going through, comments on their server, etc., I'd like something that I have more control over.
My hosting service, InMotion Hosting, provides PHP Fusion for use. Is PHPF something that can be used to make a commenting system? By the way, for the moment that would be the only thing I'd be using PHPF for.

Hi,
Both PHPFusion 7 and 9 have native comment systems with functions so it can be connected to anything.
9 also have hierarchy where you can reply to individual comments while 7 does not support this.
