How do I prevent images from being included in news posts and/or blog articles.  I am referring to the news.svg image and category images for the blog.

This is only for homepage.

Copy this code into your theme https://github.com/PHPFusion/PHPFusio...p#L22-L120 and delete this https://github.com/PHPFusion/PHPFusio...hp#L91-L97. No images will be displayed.

Or if you want to remove only category images delete only this line 
News https://github.com/PHPFusion/PHPFusio...e.php#L214
Blog https://github.com/PHPFusion/PHPFusio...e.php#L231

If you want to remove these images from news itself then you have to edit multiple core files..
