I created a new new theme for my DEAD-CENTRAL.COM based on the darken theme, hours invested in photoshop creating just the right look for it..
Well this user KillMaster, of killergaming.net send me a pm asking to use this theme. I said no because the theme is specific to my site and not for use by others.
I go to his website & he's already grabbing my images for the forums!!!
Anybody have the javascript snippet to disable right clicking & know which page I should post it on to prevent this, I really hate to ban users ...

That kind of javascript is easy to bypass, will not do you any good. You have to deal with him otherwise.

I doubt you'll be able to stop him nicking your images... They get loaded into his browsers cache when he visits your website...

Just be flattered... Or add a watermark to deter him... :-)

That sucks... you could also create an account on his site and flame him for violating your copyright or using your intellectual creation without your consent.

The modifications to Darken theme are superb, and it really looks great for your site... however, I find it very lame of others to rob peoples hard work.

He should at least change the color of the theme to make it a bit more original, I think that a blue colored Darken theme would look awesome too.

Thanks everyone,
I managed to contact this individual through email and made it clear that some of my Icons & such were created by a graphic artist who is in the employ of one of my clients, a celeb, and he also creates some of my graphics.
Both this artist & I, are in fact employed by this gentleman, I run is official site and his production company site.
After explaining to him that I do this for a living & a few of the folks he's reading about on my site in particular, are my clients, he changed his mind and found other places for his images.
I spend far too much time creating ideas in photoshop to just pass them out to other users, and I've seen other themes far better than what I've done on a few php-fusion sites that he could choose from.
the DARKEN theme was simplistic enough for me to add to the CSS and my own images, altering it beyond it's original layout into something completely new and to be used strictly for this site. I'm actually still working on more for it.
I'm really a ColdFusion programmer and barely know php, but I am capable of customization.

I do have another question for anyone with some theming skills, I cannot locate the page to center my banner....any hints???

either subheader.php or theme.php
search for "center banner" or "center header" for details

Thanks Matonor, can you elaborate a bit more, I searched through both files & tried diligently but to no avail. I'm usually a quick study for this kind of customization, but this one thing seems a bit elusive.

I think he meant for you to look into subheader.php and find the render_header thing near the end of file. There should be an echo line if u look closely to that line there should be a few directory structure variables such as IMAGES."something.gif or .jpg... well just encapsulate that line with <center></center> and you should be on your way to centering that img on top.

If it's the "Sculls" used in the forum this argument is about, I would add that they are not identical. So it's just somebody "borrowing" one idea, really. If that's OK to do, well I don't know. It's certainly not original.

One question: none of this two themes has a theme copyright notice from the theme they are build upon. So this talk of stealing and rippoffs here are really (IMO) a tiny bit ridiculous. Sorry guys! ;)

The art work on the site is 100% copyrighted, by my graphic artists, who is a professional and does a lot of the artwork seen on the packaging for PC games. He also does the graphics for Kenforee's tee shirt that are sold at conventions and on Kens site, and I paid him for the icons on the mainpage , if you read the bottom of my site there ARE Copyrights for the artwork as well as a link here to this site.

I sent Killmaster an email asking him to remove the icons 2 days ago and he did.
originally he pm'd me asking if he could use my theme , I said no it was site specific, then upon visiting his site I saw he had already started using some images, not any longer mind you, but on that day he did, hence I emailed him.

Wow,, i say.

hmmmmmmm do you own this system mr Shaihulud.. ???????

Or have u copyrighted the red, blue, green etc colours on the web.... an image is nothing man.. its copyed all over the web.. the point is that the content u provide is the main factor for people liking ure site.. make ure content exclusive and no mather how much people copy an image at ure site they will newer be able to represent ure content -- combined with ure images---.. if they copy that (ure content),,, wich is the important part then sue them out of this world.. :)

I know how you feel.. :|
I'm getting sick and tired of the fact that i see my own made images or banners all over the internet, mostly on other php-fusion sites.
For some custom pages i'm using an online coder that changes the original source code into %25%48%55 characters when they are trying to steal anything from some pages, like this they are not editable to use on other sites.
Sometimes i'm spending many hours creating images and it's really frustrating to see my images are being used on other sites all the time.
So maybe you could add a "©Yourwebsite.com" thingie to every image on your site like i'm doing.
And if you would use an animated gif image it's harder to remove the © character.

Some people have even copied entire pages from my site without even asking if they could use them and then they act surprised if i don't want to talk to them anymore lol..
So ppl,BE ORIGINAL!!! ;)

The issue is closed in regard to the other webmaster.

I but I don't quite think you understand my point here, gero9mo.
I could care less about the color schemes , or CSS settings,That was not my gripe.
Its the ARTWORK which was created specificaly for my site, ...all icons, images and artwork on my site were hand drawn by a graphic artist SPECIFICLY for my site...understand??
They were created by an artist for us...anything he didn't create is being used with permission from the proper channels...
the reds in the CSS could be easily changed to green or purple or pink for that matter, but the artwork is the issue I had originally posted about.
Taking anothers art for use without permission is as bad as copying the php-fusion cms, changing it's name and a few bits of the code and claiming it as your own... that's just not right.

Now of course that aguement could be made with my complaint...
that I took the Darken theme & changed it , then claimed it as mine, BUT
Thats not the case... I recreated the theme by adding my own Icons and artwork to the point that the only thing that remains is the CSS,and I've yet to see copyrights on a css file. Also, the theme was free to download therfore open to public use, where as my version of it is not,it is exclusive to my website. If I created a new name for it, would this debate be happening??

I mean, c'mon, all the free themes on any of the theming sites are variations on any one of a hundred themes listed... same concept, these designers chose to release theirs to the public, I did not.

My apologies if I disrupted the forum with my concerns, that was not my intent.
