I had IP banned this IP number "213" but I just found a spam-post in my guestbook and users IP started with 213. The spam was posted after I had set the IP ban. How can this happen?

Argh, this is so ******* (not a nice word) frustrating! I have banned the following IP's "213", "213." and also the whole IP "213.134.170.155" but the *********** (another foul word) spammer keeps spamming my guestbooks :(. How is he doing this if his IP is banned?
If I find this je** I will find my chainsaw s35.photobucket.com/albums/d189/dimebar_probably/Smileys/th_chainsaw.gif

Edit: I would like if someone could maybe mod the Guestbook Infusion so if someone use any kind of word that I have listed the message will not be added to the guestbook. And even better the spammers IP adress automatic added to banlist too, if he use one of these words.

Ken, did you type the whole sequence 213.1.1.1 - 213.1.1.2 - 213.1.1.3 etcetera all the way up to 213.255.255.255?

I don't think You can ban on wild card typing 213.*.*.* (which I do not know if You did). The IP ban is, to my understanding, for one specific IP each ban, and not any range.

From the "Blacklist User" panel:

Quote

Entering an IP address will prevent a user whose IP address matches the entry from visiting this site. You can enter a full IP, e.g. 123.123.123.123, or a partial IP, e.g. 123.123.123 or 123.123.

So I thought banning 213 would keep all IP's starting with 213 out.

You did try using the .htaccess file?

order allow,deny
deny from 213.134.170.155
allow from all

No, I haven't tried that. Maybe I should give it a try, but I'm always a bit anxious using .htaccess (afraid to mess something up I guess).

Edit: I have not put up a .htaccess file. Let's see how it works :D. By the way; can I add partial IPs to the .htaccess file e.g. 213.?

Not sure about that, so I IPbanned both, 213 and 213. (with dot in end) just to be sure.

Just to let you know; the .htaccess seems to work fine. I have not seen the spammer around since I added the .htaccess.

Is it possible to add partial IPs to the .htaccess e.g. 213.?
