Lately i think the development of php fusion is verry slow. The main website is not frequently updated, files in the CVS are verry old etc.

Now what i want to know is the following:

- How much time is spent developing php fusion weekly (estimated)?
- Is Digitanium the only source developer? (and if so; Isnt it a good idea to get more developers?)
- Is the CVS browser updated frequently?
- Is development faster than it seems to be?

Now i really want to know some more facts here, because im a active modification developer:

(see http://beta.phpfusion-mods.com/forum/...#post_6623)

Thus I want to know why php fusion is so slow (/or isnt slow). I need to know this if im going to stay developing mods for php fusion....

Thnx

Yep me too. And i know security is a big point flyingduck. But for the outside it seems php fusion is going slow lately. (maybe unstable releases for php-fusion is an idea?)

I really hope its only my imagination, because i like php-fusion!!

- How much time is spent developing php fusion weekly (estimated)?
yes things appear to be rather stagnant at the moment, but that is not the case behind-the-scenes. I am currently spending up to four hours a day working on a platform on which we can build version 7. This involves rewriting many of the internal scripts insuring that PHP fusion can run with register globals switched off, a major security update designed to secure the system in the Long term. Once this phase is completed you will see a separate CVS published on this very site.

- Is Digitanium the only source developer? (and if so; Isnt it a good idea to get more developers?)
I am the lead developer but there are other developers now working with me on providing new ideas and in some cases actual code, I am of course on the lookout for new talent but I am extremely fussy about who I choose to accept code from especially after problems we encountered with code used in versions 4 and 5.

- Is the CVS browser updated frequently?
as things stand we regard v6 complete and the only time the CVS will be updated is in the event of any security related issues. We made a decision to separate v7 from v6 to avoid any confusion particularly as the new core may present compatibility issues with its predecessor. The version 7 cvs will be up and running within the next couple of weeks which will then be updated as progress is made.

- Is development faster than it seems to be?
in a nutshell, yes, work is progressing at a reasonable rate behind the scenes on an internal site. The main support site will soon be running on version 7 as soon as the first phase is complete.

In summary
PHPFusion has a long term future that will continue to be supported fully by myself and the other individuals who are determined to make our CMS one of the best available. It is not uncommon to see stagnant periods where there are little or no updates. This is not something that you should be concerned about that is for certain.

I hope this has answered your questions :)

Thank you very much Digitanium, this answered my questions :)

Isnt it a good idea to start with subversions of php-fusion (e.g. stable releases/ unstable releases)? This could be more clear to the crowd because people can acually see/test the development versions of this CMS.

Im happy to hear that php-fusion is still developed. Reading this i think the CMS has a future. Keep up the good work! ;)

I see the stagnant periods as an advantage/a proof of quality, if you like.
If new fixes would come out all the time it would indicate an unstable system, and this is not how I see 6.01.x

One month more or less to wait for 7.00, I don't care. Better take the time it takes to make a good core and a smooth upgrade.

I wont ask about whats in version 7.00. Apparently Nick prefers to keep us all waiting.
Allright. I'll wait! I know I am not going to be disapointed. :)

We don't have to make it, Fusion IS one of the best CMS (along with Typo and Contenido).

Also don't care about time, whether v7 is coming in April or September.
Folks, look at the phpbb-Forum i. e., there's no release date either, and meanwhile the 5th Beta of Olympus.
If Master Digi and the team take their time it will be a good v7 coming out.

PHPFusion is the best CMS out there today as far as I'm concerned! I won't go back to NUKE or POST NUKE.... I just updated to v6.01.8 from a much older version and I've had no problems whatsoever occur...

KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!
