depends if you want dedicated or shared

Why not host your own server and get a kick ass line fitted to it? 10-15mb ntl(virgin) cable line?

I think shared, I want to make some kind of php fusion hosting
but if I do dedicated can users manipulate files from others?
(on a hosting, you can change files in other maps I dont want that that is going to happen)
so a hacking user goes change files from other users
and it has to be easy to manage so I can update quick

HOLD IT!

You wanna buy a server? A computer Server (machine) or a web hosted space? Or do You want to buy a dedicated machine at a web host?

I mean, just saying "I want to buy a server" is like omitting 99% of relevant information.

So ask Your self,
- what do you want to do
- what sites
- what technology
- what bandwidth
- what space
- what compatibility

etc...

Considering PHPFusion is 5 MB, unzipped, and a database will with time easily grow beyond 10 MB, plus user files, which can be anything, I'll start with 100 MB per user, included database space.

Many hotels adds files+database+e-mail = total space. Consider that.
And You will need a LAMP (Linux(Unix)+Apache+MySQL+PHP).
ChiliASP aint bad having for the occasional Microsoft junkie and many appreciate CGI scripts, .htaccess-files, Perl and CronJob.

Again a server is hardware with a specific software combination. You can use ANY computer as a server machine and install FreeBSD or Linux on it and then start adding packages. If You want to buy a solution that is 75% ready for plugin it will cost hundreds of whatever currency (€ £ $).

You cant buy a server that is 100% ready as You want it, a t a reasonable price. Lots of manual software configuration and installation is involved.

Why dont You pm Sheldon and ask him? He is the one that runs the server this site is on. www.netriox.com
