Hello. I'm finishing up the design of my site and about to begin working on content. Can anyone visit my site and give me any suggestions on my site's layout, colors, and design in general before i move on?
Lol, thanks all. I'll work on the domain name later, I'll be out of town for six weeks starting in a couple of days. Not Facebook, but another community site. I plan on being better than facebook, ha (yeah right :P).
Thanks, everyone. I'm still working on colors. My old site was pretty bright with red and orange, but I tried that on the new site and it didn't work so well. There is no brown, by the way, just a darker red. I'll experiment with the width, too.
Nice site, long name, too wide, not enough colors. That about says it all, I think.
Although many sites set their width fixed, I prefer an adaptive width. That way it will show everything without scrolling left and right.
I can understand that you chose to use a free host, but in your case getting your own domain name could have great impact on your traffic. And there are places where you can register a domain for about $ 9 a year, so not that expensive. Edit: upsidecentral.net is still available...
Your site is set up for teens and young adults. In my opinion using a brownish color doesn't fit. I'm of an older generation and brown would be a color I would use for a site for retired people.... I think that using more vivid, fresh colors like red, blue, green etc. would be more appealing to the younger generation. And don't use just 1 color. Create a palette of matching colors and use them wisely.
My personal favorite is to set the theme width to 100%. This so people with 800*600 resolution van view your site correctly. (it is now set to 1000 (pixels)).
Maybe set a different Body Background color instead of white.
Looks good, but if you want your site to catch on you should purchase a real domain. It is a mouthful to say, "Check out my website, www.upsidecentral.x10hosting.com" Word of mouth is great, make it simple.
