I've recently come back to using PHPFusion and got my site mostly the way I want it.

wafflechunks.com/images/banner2small.gif

edit (7/28/09):
made some additional changes and also enabled a panel or two for public users that I had set to super admin while trying to get it working.

edit: (8/21/09):
I've made a lot of enhancements since the original post. Here's a list of some of them:
[ulist=circle]Added, modified, and fixed Meta_Tag_Panel (on my site it's listed as the Keyword Search).
Added a ChangeBlog (aka change log), which I use to note any changes that are made excluding new content.
Added a News Ticker to cycle through recent news about my site
Added Share This Page panel (Bookmark This panel) and replaced icons with cleaner looking ones
Made it so that banner ads disappear for registered users
Added links for RSS Feeds
Changed articles.php -> videos.php (that was an all nighter, lol)
And lastly I got my site to be W3C Validated for XHTML 1.0 and CSS.

One of the guys I went to high school with is writing a comic of some sorts. Once he's finished it we're gonna work something out to have it put up on my site. That should help drive some additional traffic.

I've considered making some of the content members only, but then I consider what I would do if I was a visitor. I would probably just move on to the next site.

Another thing I've been tossing around was to have some kind of contest. Like a banner design contest or something. But other than using the winner's banner and giving them credit, I'm not sure what else I can offer the winner of a contest.

I've made a lot of changes and improvements over the past month. Read the edit in the original post for details.

ya, I gave up on IE a while ago. The only time I use it now is to load websites that don't load right in Chrome or Firefox.

I'm so tempted to move to Chrome because my gosh IE is getting slow, even after disabling all the add-ons.

Interesting site.
The thing that jumped out at me was that the horizontal google ad at the top of the page extends WAY beyond the box that contains it, and looks awful.

Thanks for pointing out the issue with the horizontal ad. I never noticed it because I normally use Google Chrome. Turns out that only happens with IE and if the IE window is not maximized and/or the person viewing the page is using a lower screen resolution.

Edit:
Moved the ad to the very top of the page so that it's not in a panel.
