if you are talking about the php-fusion copyright since last time i checked this is gnu/gpl it is not required......, atleast from what i understand if the code is gnu/gpl you just cant remove the copyright notices on the top of each file (or atleast from what i understand and i am no lawyer or anything like that just a highschool student :D) but you do not have to retain the notice on the echo since it has nothing to do with source copyright :)

On a side not, it is rude to remove the program name from the echo of the copyright...., and if the devs notice a lot of people do then they can shutdown php-fusion and or even just change the lic, or they can just give out newer versions to selective people only.....

1) From FAQ on this web:

Quote

We would appreciate it if you retained the "Powered by PHPFusion" footer copyright notice. We feel this is fair when you consider the many hundreds of hours of work that continues to go into the development of this project.

2) One thing is to delete a copyright from the footer and the other thing is to write to the footer "coding copyright - my_name", I guess.

EDIT:
Quick translation of the footer: Everything on this pages is copyrighted under an international authors law...

it does not matter what someone says it is running or is using...., as long as he does not change the copyright at the top of each file....

Unless your gonna threaten him with a bat haha.

OK, the previous footer text (design and coding copyright by shadow) is out. This is a better version, I guess, but link to php-fusion is still missing.

Actually I think we should have a blacklisted list of all websites that doesnt have php-fusion link back to this websites. So, whenever they need support, we simply check this in the list. If they are listed, we simply ignore =)

Yes, I think so.

We do a whois on its domain or server and find who his hosting company is. If he neglects to return the copyright notices, then we could contact the hosting company and have a talk.

Sure its gpl and under gpl/gnu license the real protected © is in the source... BUT, not under Affero GPL. And v7 is coming under new license due to that exact reason, we got sick of ppl plagiarizing and not giving our development credit for their hard work (capitalize the word hard if you may).

So its all in the coming soon portrait now... just gotta stay tuned for the new the pretty and the ugly!

Edit: corrected some typos, cuz i can't type well LMAO
