Is it possible for the admin of a site to get an e-mail when a new user have registered, and needs approval?
As it works by standard in both v6 and v7 the administrator have to go in to the website and manually check for new users awaiting approval
I guess the same goes for user submissions for news, articles etc.
It would be nice to have an "attention e-mail" telling me to take action in these cases

The simple answer is no, there won't be any significant changes in the final release, [as far as i know].
