I guess this could go here, it don't fit into anything else.

I noticed the RC2 update and I am completely in the dark as to if it has been upgraded on my site or not. The new SmartFTP is rubbish and the word overwrite is non existent, just a load of rocket science in its place.

I think I have overwritten the files but I have no way at all of being sure of this as it doesn't actually say on the working version that its a RC.

I know this will be useless in the long term but its going to solve a lot of problems in the mean time with people going to be reporting errors that have already been fixed.

So I think you should do as you do with normal updates, such as V7.01 etc. Or more useful on the admin page perhaps get it to say RC1/RC2 next to the V7.00.

It is only a Release Candidate. It is not a Final Release.
So there is no need for version numbers. It would be too much work for that.

You have just to overwrite the files from RC2 on your website, and that's it. There is no datbase update.
