It's a Great Feature, but sometimes the quality of some pictures is really bad ;)

alot of images posted on my sites have text and when they are resized the text often becomes unreadable, perhaps a GD2 alternative, i think the option to turn it on or off would be MUCH better.

Click on the image and you'll have it in 100% width and height. It isn't harder than that.

The image quality is your browsers job. We don't change the image, we only set width and height tags. A serverside solution would not work on the majority of hosts (due to allow_url_fopen restrictions) and it would significantly slow the loading of the site (up to 30 or even 60 seconds per image depending on the server settings) if some images are not available.
If you want to turn off the resizing, delete his from jscript.js:
resize_forum_imgs();
if you want to remove the span container which prevents the layout from being destroyed as well, edit includes/bbcodes/img_bbcode_include.php.

For firefox: Tools -> Options -> Content (the tab), and click the checkbox that says "Enable javascript". And disable noscript (or make an exception for your site) if you have that extension. If IE, well, get a better browser. :\

Can't say that I'm crazy about it. The people on my site are all well enough adjusted to resize their images. The images always fit the screen at a decent resolution. We're gamers so we're all running 1280/1024 or higher. It's been annoying me that my signature image, which will fit on the page without problem gets resized.

It's a great Feature.

Now my layout stays OK.

The only thing I don't like about it, are the scrollbars around the picture. thats hideous.
