Is it possible to create new groups (existing examples are members, moderators etc.). So that certain groups can see and post on certain forum.
Not sure if this is explained well. If you need more information just ask.

Yes its called Usergroups
Go to Admin >> Users >>> Usergroups.
There you can Create Usergroups and assign users to them.
Now in forums just edit what forum you want to give who what access to and voilà you are on your way.
