Well first i tryed to just put together a portal with joomla, becouse i read somewhere that its for portals. I downloaded and installed it, and i recognized the fact: its a ****. After i added a skin to it, the whole portal died and i was not even able to open the admin page any more.

This is my first time doing this online portal things, so i was a cmsvirgin :Đ

So it was ****. Then i just tryed this wordpress ****, wich is annouced also as a cms brutallity, but it was very crap, even a random blog engine from Afghanistan is better than that asshattery.

Then i was like :|. And i was tought that i should learn php or i must code a portal html engine in C to made an own portal.

But then somebody suggested phpfusion, and says: hey dude, this is this phpfusion thing, go and try it, it maybee helps.

First when i saw that this is also some gpl based stuff, i was like: oh oh, another idiot gpl retardness wich i must try before i write a 4 page long rancorous thread to my hate-blog from gpl.

After i have downloaded phpfusion and installed it to my newly setupped webserver, first i was like: low.
But after i have started to play with the settings, i was just become very impressed.

WOW, actually php-fusion is very good. And yeah. Its very good.
-Its easy to use, friendly and logical menus
-Everything can be setupped
-Easy to add plugins for everything (forums, file size limits, ...)
-Easy to skin
-Easy to create community portals with it in professional qualify within 1-2 day of creative playing and clicking
-Small place

I am not cmsvirgin any more! I feel satisfyed now. After trying a bunch of unusable gpl-php-retard ****s, i found that php fusion is the ONLY usable cms system. Actually, the only one that is usable, and the only one that worth the bits to download. php fusion is the best cms system of all time.

So here is some suggestions for the upcoming version:
-forum replyes should use some wysiwyg editor
-profiles should contain gender (i think alreday found a plugin for that)
-bbcodes like youtube, generic embeddable flash, and embeddable musics should be there as default, however i am sure i can add my own bbcodes to do this things

And a question:
If i dont remove the copyright notice from the portal, and i dont touch the source code, i can use my phpfusion portal for any purpose, right? (even if i put it with full of free plugins, even if i put a lot of ads to my site, or the site contains support forums for things i sell, and i become millionary, or etc etc etc)?

Super Admin

This is going to be my first few post after so many years.

Yes, Php Fusion is #1 CMS ever lived in the internet. I was first attracted when there was php-fusion-themes site, showing me possibilities of customization.. It was all during my university years when I discovered phpfusion.. that's like what..7? years ago, I think it was v.3, and seriously v.6 was the longest turnover with huge mods. The next in line was XOOPS, i remembered.

I was only capable of html back then. PHP fusion was the primary reason I learn PHP and it took me two/three years to study up what Nick wrote. (yes, I open up every single file and studied the structure)
I slowly learned via W3 schools about php functions and now I can do things I can't with other CMS. joomla, drupal, wordpress.. function ability wise, PHP fusion has been the BEST of it.

It's simple, not hard to understand what's going inside the engine and its sql structure is straightforward. Very few functions around and keep things very much simple for anyone less with code experience to develop it into something else using this platform.

Instead of a single package, what I think is we all can start up a source forge in this domain, then get users to participate and co-develop another GNU GPL add-on "application" for PHP-FUSION, CRM, Auction House, B2b, b2c, blog engine.. u know those useful parts of the internet. Nevertheless, .. I think i read something in this site once stating that PHPfusion team wants PHP fusion to stay as a CMS, nothing else... so other projects were forked out by smaller group of team, and less support from the PHP fusion primary group and when update kicks faster than the actual mod development, they suffered compatibility issues.. u see most were freelancers and expect nothing in return. I respect that actually. Again, I have no say, but lets keep it to that way if everyone wants it. I am just happy its still here thats all.

With regards to : profiles should contain gender, actually you do not need any plugin. The viewer is profile.php?lookup = user id. All you need is to edit profile.php and you'll see tables. phpfusion uses ".$userdata['any_sql_column']." by default to display the field recorded under registered user. These are controlled by maincore.php and subheader.php. Don't amend any of these 2 file. You can start mod it by simply modify 3 files under..

edit_profile.php <-- form
profile.php <--- viewer, execute by profile.php?lookup=any_user_id.
the sql update or insert is found in update_profile_include.php.. <-- sql function.

it's that simple. just need some alteration.

These 3 files can alter all user mods. However, do not alter in any way the user_level, user_auth, user_password field those are associated to how phpfusion works like charm.
