I like blue. i always did, but as it is it is a tad difficult to differ the forum icons for
read:
www.php-fusion.co.uk/themes/Arise/forum/folder.gif
and
unread:
www.php-fusion.co.uk/themes/Arise/forum/foldernew.gif


Would it possible to enhance the differences somehow?

Sure they are better but they also change the forum display adding air. Maybe two goods in one blow? Ohter opinions?
