Has anyone seen or know of an infusion, a mod, or bbcode that will allow restricting discussion forum posts by individual posts, or even bbcode to restrict the content in posts, to specific groups?

For instance, in a forum that is restricted to members, I would want to have one particular post in that forum additionally restricted to only a group called 'friends only'. Or even have that post viewable by members but have a bbcode that encapsulates certain content in that post to restrict to 'friends only'.

I know I can simply create a separate forum and restrict it to the 'friends only' group. My intent, however, is to have the single forum of a specific topic, and some posts interdependent on other posts within the forum for chronological or ongoing story/topic reasons but to be able to restrict certain content in the "storytelling".

Anybody have ideas?

If I understand it correctly, say if you are doing a BBcode

[ friends ] {message} [ / friends ]

where only friends can see it? Can you code it? If you are willing to attempt, I'll guide you to it.

Actually I was asking if anybody knew of existing bbcode that functions as you correctly exampled. I have no coding experience, the closest being to edit existing code with simple edits when and where I can understand how to do so. Is any of the bbcode in v7.02.07 suitable to use as a template and edit what would be needed?

I know this is an old thread but has an answer for this in the way of an infusion been answered? I have been looking for something like this, or even restrict the thread according to group.

You can, create a user group. Create a Forum with rights to only that group.

That's not quite what I meant, I know forums can be restricted to specific groups. What I'm interested in is restricting individual posts within a forum to specific groups.

Does anybody know if any bbcode addon exists that would restrict post (or specific content in the post) by group? That would accomplish what I was originally asking. For example, I added the Members Only BB Code and like it. It works great for restricting to logged in members. I'm just thinking of something that would go further and restrict to logged in members who are in certain groups that are created.

Or, can anybody guide on how to edit the members only bbcode to make this work, if it is possible?
