I tried to get some help in an existing thread, but didn't get an answer.

My problem is, that some of our articles are long, and now they start to disappear from the database, when we want to update them.

We did not install anything that could cause this problem, as it came out of nowhere.

I have set the article_article as longtext, but the problem still occur; whenever we try to edit/post a long article (we're talking veeeeeery long), it's empty when we try to preview, and all the data in the article is then lost.

I have looked in this forum for hours, and on other mysql sites, but are unable to find a solution.

I am dying to solve this issue, and would be forever thankful to he/she who can help

This will be my last bump..- since it's impossible to get an answer, even if it's a "don't know", from the crew, I am considering changing CMS system.

Having a major problem, and asking for help three times without an answer, is just to much.

I have always been a fan of this system, but the recent lack of support is just not good enough.

I contacted my host, because I get this message:

Your PHP MySQL library version 5.0.27 differs from your MySQL server version 5.1.35. This may cause unpredictable behavior.

However, my host said that isn't the problem, but that's all the "support" they could give me.

New articles as well, when they reach a certain length.

So I'm thinking it is a matter of changing some setting in the database, but I have no clue how to do that - and what needs to be changed.

Maybe that is what you are searching(from mysql.com):

The maximum size of a BLOB or TEXT object is determined by its type, but the largest value you actually can transmit between the client and server is determined by the amount of available memory and the size of the communications buffers. You can change the message buffer size by changing the value of the max_allowed_packet variable, but you must do so for both the server and your client program. For example, both mysql and mysqldump allow you to change the client-side max_allowed_packet value. See Section 7.5.3, “Tuning Server Parameters”, Section 4.5.1, “mysql — The MySQL Command-Line Tool”, and Section 4.5.4, “mysqldump — A Database Backup Program”. You may also want to compare the packet sizes and the size of the data objects you are storing with the storage requirements, see Section 10.5, “Data Type Storage Requirements”

Letters: 340512

The funny part is, that the article is showing now. But if I go to the article-administration, and preview the article, the entire text disappears from the input field...

This is the screenshot from one of the articles that are to big:

It's in phpmyadmin, but it also stay saved in Fusion, if only I preview (and the code disappears) and not hit the save button.

It is pretty complicated huh?
