Forum keeps merging my posts

I have noticed that when posting new entries below another post by the same user, forum merges them. It may be hours between posts, but in 8 out of 10 tries the forum insists on merging posts.

It also happens in this forum.

I can see no setting to control the merging behaviour, even if the edit setting may be related.

Ideas?

You can set merging on or off in Content Admin / Forums. Just edit a Forum and there is the merger option.

I like the Merge function, it prevents multiple-post spamming. It's set to ON in most of our forums, and OFF is a few where we expect multiple posts.
