Hi guys,

I'm busy on new german project: DJ-Foundation

For first time I'm playing around with new HTML5 <audio> element for an easy to handle MP3-Player based on jQuery and little flash for browsers which supports that element. For browsers without HTML5-support it uses Yahoo! Media Player. Browsers that support neither degrade to a list of links to MP3 files.

It seems to be working fine, but unfortunately I'm not able to test it in more then few browsers (FF, Chrome and Opera).

Do me a favour and test that thing on http://dj-foundation.de
It can be found over "Auf einen Blick" -> "MP3 Player" and opens in a jQuery Popup.

Thanks in advance smile

Yes, IE(8) does not (fully) support CSS(3) and/or jQuery or especially HTML 5 and there are many modern scripts behind the frontend...

I'm thinking about optimization for IE 8 or later yet...
IE is so crappy **** browser :(
You have to code many "fallbacks" just for this MS-Thing :(

The idea behind this MP3 player is to let registered DJs have their own "playlist"" where they are able to present up to 6 of their own productions/mixes. Can be set for each registered DJ in their profiles (just set a link to the MP3/OGG file there and the player do the rest, no upload-function at all. Just load up your musicfile wherever you want and set the link to it in a simple list after login. So each registered DJ gets his own player.

That's the theory, to let it become true is a long way yet ;)

Now, thats a feature. Is that coded into core or as infusion? We can do music portal with this. The file stream works flawless. But the server load how? If 50 people listen to it same time.. Will the server run out of juice? Cache it perhaps?

ATM it's just harcoded in theme.php with some external additional scripts for testing that thing. Next version of this player will be infusion with adminarea and userfield for profile.

The player will approach then in a smaller popup on left side of website when clicking and only appears in profile view.

If you ask me, I'll make a dedicated page with the full profile called music center. Every song, as I can see, needs a background info along with it. Look at YouTube, it's 1 video 1 page. Just food for thought. Music player doesn't need just being a snippet. It can go way beyond.

Instead of a profile add on, try music add on with profile. That's more appealing. And a hit infusion :)
